One.African.Girl was birthed out of the need to change the narrative about Africa. So much that is said or written about our lovely continent is through the eyes and minds of non- Africans.

Africa is so vast…             so big….

so rich in diversity…            so natural…

and that pretty much encompasses all the people, the food, the geography, the languages and so much more. If you haven’t been to Africa (FYI: it’s not a country), then you better plan your next holiday in any of the amazing 54 countries.

There simply cannot be just a single narrative about the beautiful chocolate continent. Africans are natural story tellers and always will be. Their stories are interwoven with wisdom, wit and humor just like this famous proverb, ‘until the lion learns to write, every story will glorify the hunter’.

Until the Africans start to change the narrative, all we’ll hear or read about will be the skewed narratives of colonialists or foreigners.

So, OneAfricanGirl is a collection of unique female voices collated together in a blog sharing their voices… doing everything they can to change the narrative.
